Poker at the Brantford casino is played against the other players at the table, not against the casino, in a room on level two. This page explains the seat list, the games and the house rules in plain words.

Getting a seat
A poker seat starts with a waiting list. Players join it through the Poker Atlas app or by calling 519-757-3306. Being on the list does not hold a seat forever. A listed player who does not check in within 90 minutes is removed, so the timing of joining matters.
Room hours differ from the rest of the casino, which never closes. The poker room runs Monday to Thursday from noon to 4 a.m. From Friday to Sunday it runs from 10 a.m. to 4 a.m. Holiday hours should be checked on the casino's own page at greatcanadian.com.
The games and the rake
Limit Hold'em runs at three levels: 4/8, 10/20 and 20/40. Those pairs of numbers are the stakes, meaning the bet sizes posted for that game. A higher pair means bigger bets at the table. The room also runs No Limit games, higher-limit games and Omaha.
The rake is the house share of each pot, and a pot is the money players put in during one hand. Limit Hold'em games take 10%, capped at $10. No Limit, higher-limit and Omaha games take 10%, capped at $15. Capped means the house share stops at that amount, however large the pot grows. When a hand ends before the flop, the first three shared cards, there is no rake.
Phones and the table
Games in the poker room are run by professional dealers, and the room keeps its own house rules. Recording is not allowed: no photos, video or audio of live play unless management allows it. Messaging about live play falls under the same rule. Phone use is also off limits while a player is holding a live hand. A live hand means cards that are still in play, not yet folded or finished.
- How does someone get on the poker list?
- A player can join through the Poker Atlas app or by calling 519-757-3306. Either way, the player must then check in within 90 minutes.
- What is the smallest Limit Hold'em game?
- The lowest level listed is 4/8. The other Limit Hold'em levels are 10/20 and 20/40, with a 10% rake capped at $10.
- What happens after 90 minutes without checking in?
- The player is removed from the list.
- Can a player text during a hand?
- Not while holding a live hand. The room bans phone use at that point, and messaging about live play needs management's permission.
